Metta Kids World (Pre-School)

Metta Kids World (Pre-School) operates a kindergarten at Metta Youth Centre, Thalpawila Kekanadura, Matara District, Sri Lanka. The kindergarten was established in 2007 when it welcomed its first class of 17 children. In 2008, it registered with the Ministry of Education under registration No. ECCD/SP/M/MA/16.  

With well-trained and dedicated teachers, Metta Kids World aims to provide quality pre-school education at affordable rates to prepare children for entry to the local primary schools. Since its inception, 206 children have graduated from Metta Kids World and moved on to primary schools. Currently there are 172 children attending 7 kindergarten classes there, each under the charge of a qualified kindergarten teacher and an assistant teacher. Volunteers from Ti-Sarana Buddhist Association, Singapore regularly visit the kindergarten to consult on its kindergarten programmes.

Metta Kids World recognises the importance of pre-school education and its growing prominence amongst Sri Lankan parents. Thus, in January 2012, Metta Kids World expanded its operations to Keliyapura, Hambantota District. Two kindergarten classes have initially been set up to meet the needs of the local community there. Plans are in place to open more classes if required to meet the demand for pre-school education. .

Separately, Metta Kids World (Pre-School) is also considering providing kindergarten services to villages in Sooriyapokuna, Tangelle District
