MYC Language Lab
The Language Lab located at Metta Youth Centre, Matara was officially opened on 24th August 2009. The set-up and equipment were sponsored by the Sim Family, Singapore in memory of the late Dhammachariya Sim Choon Kim and Mrs. Molly Sim. Since then, regular English Language classes are conducted at the Language Lab not only for MYC children but monks living in the vicinity who are keen to learn and improve their English.
On 18th March 2012 a ceremony was held at Metta Youth Centre to award certificates to 30 Venerables who had completed a two-year English Language course conducted at the MYC Language Lab. 3 Venerables who scored the highest marks in a test conducted by the lecturer were awarded with an educational tour to Singapore. Their air-tickets were sponsored by Ti-Sarana Buddhist Association, Singapore.
The English Language course for Venerables is still conducted weekly at the MYC Language Lab.
