HISTORY & STATUS

Building a better world with Metta!

Ven. W. Ratanasiri Thero, inspired by his master, the Most Venerable D. Sangharathana Nayaka Mahathera’s dedication to welfare work, established Metta Social Services Foundation. The Foundation’s mission is to adopt a holistic approach in helping the underprivileged in Sri Lanka.

After the demise of the Most Venerable D. Sangharathana Nayaka Mahathera, the Chief Incumbent of the Rajamaha Viharaya Weherahena (Buddhist Temple), Matara on 28th December 2002, Ven. Ratanasiri Thero built the Metta Buddhist Centre in 2003 in memory of his late master. For the past 10 years Metta Buddhist Centre has implemented numerous vocational, social and enrichment programmes to help the underprivileged in Sri Lanka.
